A Voyage To Lilliput

by Andrew Lang

A young man named the Narrator travels across the seas until a terrible storm destroys his ship. He swims to safety on an unknown shore, only to wake up tied down by tiny people. The tiny citizens of Lilliput bring their Emperor of Lilliput to see this giant stranger. At first frightened, they soon realize he is gentle and useful. The Narrator helps the Emperor win a great war by capturing the enemy fleet. His lordship and other officials are not so friendly, but the Emperor grants him freedom. The Narrator spends his days performing amazing feats for the delighted court. He even saves lives during a royal entertainment with his careful hands. However, he eventually falls out of favor with the powerful rulers. He finds a large boat and asks the Emperor of Blefuscu for help to leave. The friendly ruler grants him supplies and wishes him well on his journey. The Narrator sails away with animals from the tiny land in his pockets. He finally reaches England and reunites with his family back home.
